ReCverin 50/50™ is our premiere Vitamin C serum intended primarily for skin care. If you’re seeking a no-nonsense, pure, natural, gentle, and economical solution to your skin’s need for enhanced Vitamin C protection, please explore the information on this page to understand why ReCverin 50/50™ is the world’s most effective Vitamin C serum for your skin…bar none!

Everyone knows that topically applied Vitamin C can help moisturize, smooth and beautify the skin; minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; brighten and even lighten the skin tone in some people; stimulate and catalyze the production of collagen; provide photoprotection from the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation; neutralize skin-damaging free radicals with its powerful anti-oxidant protection; and slow the inevitable signs of aging. This is why topical Vitamin C is recommended by dermatologists more than any other skin care constituent. The science of how and why it provides these benefits is remarkably complex, but leads to a single, simple conclusion:

Vitamin C cannot provide these benefits unless and until
it is absorbed through the dead outer layer deep into the living skin below
.

ReCverin 50/50™ is all about absorption! This pleasant, patented solution, containing both of the natural forms of Vitamin C, is scientifically formulated with that simple goal in mind: to deliver more Vitamin C deep into the skin than any other topical Vitamin C preparation.

In nature, and in your body, there are exactly two chemical forms of Vitamin C, and these two forms are utilized equally. They are called L-ascorbic acid (AA) and L-dehydroascorbic acid (DHAA). A DHAA molecule can be converted to an AA molecule in your body, and vice versa. Scientific studies demonstrate that each molecule is interchanged many times (possibly hundreds or thousands of times) before it is broken down and lost. Because each molecule is eventually broken down, and because your body cannot make more, it is necessary that you obtain Vitamin C in your diet or by absorbing it in some other way, such as through the skin.

As you can see, AA and DHAA have remarkably different chemical structures. They also have remarkably different properties, and one of the most important differences is the rate at which they are absorbed by your body. Whether it is from the digestive tract or through the skin, DHAA is absorbed much faster than AA. This difference is extremely important for skin care, because the truth is (something most manufacturers WON’T tell you) that L-ascorbic acid is absorbed through the stratum corneum VERY SLOWLY. In fact, four hours after applying AA to your skin, only about 1% of what you applied is actually absorbed! This is why skin serums made only with AA contain such high concentrations…typically they contain at least 5% AA and up to 20% AA, because these high concentrations are necessary to a get an effective amount of Vitamin C into the skin. Unfortunately, such high AA concentrations can be irritating when applied to the skin. In contrast, the DHAA in ReCverin 50/50™ is absorbed 12 times faster. Thus ReCverin 50/50™ delivers more vitamin C into the skin than ANY other product, even serums that contain 20% AA! Yet it is much gentler, because the concentration of the acidic form of Vitamin C is only 2.5%. ReCverin 50/50™ is so gentle that it can even be used by people with extremely sensitive skin.

Imagine that…the most effective Vitamin C serum you can buy is also the most gentle!

The Simple Formula of ReCverin 50/50™:
What it Contains, and What it Doesn't´╗┐

ReCverin 50/50™ contains the two naturally-occurring forms of Vitamin C in pure, vegetable glycerin. It does not contain emulsifiers, detergents, preservatives, colorants or fragrances. The science-based formula takes advantage of the ´╗┐different chemical properties of AA and DHAA, and combines them into a sparkling clear serum with a skin-moisturing base that is so pure you can eat it!

L-ASCORBIC ACID (AA) 2.5%

  • Acidic, ionized at physiological pH
  • Causes transitions in the keratin protein of the stratum corneum, essentially “loosening” this dead outer layer of skin to aid penetration of moisturizing water, glycerin, and vitamin C
  • Provides a mildly acidic pH of about 3, which is optimal for vitamin C absorption, and also helps stabilize both AA and DHAA from chemical degradation

L-DEHYDROASCORBIC ACID (DHAA) 2.5%

  • Non-acidic, not ionized at physiological pH
  • Absorbed through the stratum corneum 12 times faster than AA, deep into the living layers of the skin, where the anti-oxidant, collagen-stimulating properties of Vitamin C are important
  • Gentle, non-acidic form of Vitamin C is quickly transported through living cell membranes and rapidly converted intracellularly into AA

GLYCERIN

Glycerin is the natural humectant found in sebum, the fluid that skin normally secretes onto its own surface. This water-soluble, skin-identical moisturizer has been used for centuries for its cosmetic effects in smoothing and moisturizing the skin, and also its soothing, beneficial effects on rough, dry and irritated skin. Among the safest skin care ingredients known, it is also found naturally in foods and is an approved food ingredient. Solutions of AA and DHAA in pure glycerin are remarkably stable.

Why Don’t Other Brands Contain DHAA?

There are two reasons:

  1. DHAA is difficult and expensive to manufacture; and
  2. DHAA is notoriously unstable. This means that in most solutions, it quite rapidly changes into degradation products that are no longer Vitamin C. For example, a typical solution of DHAA in water becomes almost completely degraded in just a few days. Until we discovered how to stabilize DHAA in pure glycerin, it has been impossible to distribute in liquid form.

Actually, both AA and DHAA pose stability issues for all manufacturers, and the Vitamin C in any liquid product is not 100% stable. Please read our guidelines (below) regarding the stability and proper storage of ReCverin 50/50™. At ReCverin LLC, we have chosen to tackle the problems of cost and stability, in order to bring you the finest, most effective Vitamin C serum in the world.

Can ReCverin 50/50™ Be Used as a
Dietary Supplement?

Absolutely! ReCverin 50/50™ is completely edible, and has a pleasant, slightly sweet, citrus-like flavor. Most people don’t realize that 10-20% of the Vitamin C in a normal diet is DHAA. And remarkably, the greatest dietary source of DHAA comes from fresh, raw vegetables…people who eat large amounts of fresh, raw vegetables consume a much higher percentage of their Vitamin C in the form of DHAA.

Typical Vitamin C dietary supplements contain only AA; ReCverin 50/50™ supplies both of the natural forms of Vitamin C in equal amounts. 1/4 teaspoon of ReCverin 50/50™ supplies 110% of the Daily Value* of Vitamin C.

ReCverin 50/50™ can be used as a healthful mouthrinse and gargle, to rapidly and specifically enhance the Vitamin C levels in the gums, mouth and throat, and to increase the anti-oxidant protection and boost the immune system** of these important tissues.

Suggested Use Guidelines for ReCverin 50/50™

For skin care, apply daily to the face, neck, arms, hands and other exposed skin. Avoid direct contact with eyes.

  • We suggest using 3-5 drops for the face, and a similar application rate for other, similar-sized skin areas.
  • Apply to clean skin before any other products, and massage in thoroughly.
  • ReCverin 50/50™ can be used directly as supplied, or it may be mixed with water immediately before applying. We suggest applying to moist skin or mixing with a little water by placing a few drops of water and product in the palm and rubbing the hands together. Water combines with the humectant glycerin base to create a deep-penetrating moisturizer that absorbs quickly and gives a skin texture that many people prefer. Vary the proportions to the consistency you desire.
  • ReCverin 50/50™ blends nicely with most lotions. You can mix a few drops with another lotion immediately before applying, or you can apply another lotion immediately after applying our serum.
  • Please keep in mind that ReCverin 50/50™ is carefully formulated to stabilize Vitamin C. One of the secrets to its stability is that it contains no water. We recommend that you do not premix with water or lotions for later use.

For dietary use, take 1/4 teaspoon by mouth each day.

  • As a mouthwash or gargle, take the dietary amount with a teaspoon of water, and swish or gargle for a minute or two before swallowing.

ReCverin 50/50™ Storage Guidelines

ReCverin 50/50™ is incredibly stable at freezer temperatures. Test bottles stored for more than 4 years have demonstrated no measurable decline in either AA or DHAA. It is stored in freezers at our facility after it is manufactured, and all orders are shipped directly from our freezers to your door. Each batch is regularly tested during storage, assuring that you will receive fresh product with the stated Vitamin C content. ReCverin 50/50™ may be placed in your freezer for long term storage; it will not crystallize and will not split or break its container at freezer temperatures. Even cool storage temperatures greatly extend its useful life; refrigerated, it will remain clear and colorless for many, many months.

When stored at typical room temperatures, ReCverin 50/50™ will retain greater than 90% of its stated Vitamin C content for at least 60 days. It may change somewhat to a light straw color by the end of that period of time; this is normal for room temperature storage and is not harmful in any way. Each bottle contains 60 mL, or 48 dietary servings. 1 mL is a sufficient amount to apply topically to the face, neck arms and hands of most people. Used daily, therefore, the product will be consumed in 60 days or less.

ReCverin 50/50™ is supplied in a large, two-ounce bottle that contains 2 or 4 times more than most competing skin serums. This is to provide sufficient product for daily topical use on not only the face, but also the neck and décolletage, shoulders, arms and hands. All of your skin, especially exposed skin, benefits greatly from topical vitamin C. Nevertheless, some of our customers prefer to use it only for the face. Those customers discover that two full ounces is not consumed within 60 days. In fact, two ounces is about 1200 drops! If you only use 3-5 drops each day…well, you do the math! For the convenience of those customers, we make available a small, half-ounce size refillable dropper bottle. Pour a small portion into the vial for daily use and store the large bottle in the freezer or refrigerator. In this way, a portion of the product may be kept conveniently available at room temperature, while the remainder is stored cold for maximum stability and greatly extended use. To add a Dropper Bottle to your order, simply check the "Dropper Bottle" box in the ordering information at the top of this page.
